Do they give you sustained energy all while helping you loose weight? &lt;br /&gt;Studies conducted by the Mayo Clinic state that manufacturers of protein shakes may claim that their products decrease body fat or promote weight loss. But there is no evidence that this is true. Eating a source of protein as part of a meal or snack is a good idea. You'll likely feel satisfied longer, which means you're likely to consume fewer calories overall. Occasionally having a protein shake with added vitamins and minerals as a meal supplement is better than skipping a meal. However, these types of shakes — even if the labels shows added nutrients — do not replace all of the benefits of whole foods, such as fruits and vegetables. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Also, the down fall of these drinks is that nutritional supplements can be marketed without FDA approval of safety or effectiveness. Athletes who choose to ingest these supplements should be concerned with the safety of long-term use. They are low-nutrient, low-fiber, highly-processed, high-calorie "foods," whose consumption reduces the phytochemical density of your diet. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The diet drinks studied contain large amounts of protein. Ingesting more protein than your body needs is not a small matter. It ages you prematurely and can cause significant harm. The excess protein you do not use is not stored by your body as protein; it is converted to fat or eliminated via the kidneys. Eliminating excess nitrogen via your urine leaches calcium and other minerals from your bones and breeds kidney stones &lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Bottom Line:&lt;/strong&gt; &lt;br /&gt;By not consuming diet drinks you are saving money, saving your health by eating real foods versus processed foods, and you may cut back on fat/ meal. So if you are going for weight loss and increased energy there are better alternatives. Healthy vs. More like a Dessert</title><content type='html'>&lt;div id="kslvid9620731"&gt;&lt;script src="http://pandora.bonnint.net/video/embed-1.php?id=9620731" type="text/javascript"&gt;&lt;/script&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;As your grocery shopping and come across all the different yogurts, which one do you choose? Weight Watchers claims to "widdle your waist line," while Activia promises to "promote great digestion and health." Yoplait says it "tastes great all while helping you fit into that smaller size jean." With so many choices, no wonder consumers are confused! &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Doing a little research and taste sampling, I was able to take some of the most popular brands and compare them against one another. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;blockquote&gt;&lt;b&gt; I compared them with:&lt;/b&gt; &lt;br /&gt;• sugar content &lt;br /&gt;• fat content &lt;br /&gt;• ingredients &lt;br /&gt;• taste.      &lt;br /&gt;&lt;b&gt; &lt;/b&gt;&lt;/blockquote&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;blockquote&gt;&lt;b&gt;My sample consisted of:&lt;/b&gt; &lt;br /&gt;1. Yoplait &lt;br /&gt;2. Dannon &lt;br /&gt;3. Danon Light &amp;amp; Fit &lt;br /&gt;4. Weight Watchers &lt;br /&gt;5. Activia &lt;br /&gt;6. Wallaby &lt;br /&gt;7. Greek Gods &lt;br /&gt;8. Brown Cow &lt;/blockquote&gt;So which ones should you buy for health purposes?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;b&gt;Wallaby, Greek Gods,&lt;/b&gt; and &lt;b&gt;Brown Cow&lt;/b&gt; all had the best ingredients - or should I say less ingredients. They were not weighed down with artificial flavorings, chemicals such as yellow #5 or blue #1. Why start putting chemicals in your body first thing in the morning, when you don't have too? They all contained a lower sugar content, consisting of organic cane sugar, instead of high fructose corn syrup (chemically altered sugar). The best thing though, is they contained all live cultures of healthy bacteria such as L. acidophilus, L-bigaricus, S. thermophilus, &amp;amp; bifidus. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;b&gt;Weight Watchers&lt;/b&gt; and &lt;b&gt;Danon Light &amp;amp; Fit&lt;/b&gt; were not everything they claimed. Yes, they had low fat content, but high sugar content. They also did not contain all of the live cultures, which is why yogurt is healthy in the first place. Weight Watchers, especially, had many chemicals but unlike &lt;b&gt;Danon Light &amp;amp; Fit&lt;/b&gt; it had more live cultures.   &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;b&gt;Yoplait&lt;/b&gt; and &lt;b&gt;Danon&lt;/b&gt; were defiantly your dessert yogurts. Having both High fructose corn syrup, chemicals, and not many live cultures. Yes, they may have all the flavors under the moon, but at what cost? &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I know you are all wondering about &lt;b&gt;Activia&lt;/b&gt;..does it really help with digestion?  The answer is yes…but not any better than &lt;b&gt;Wallaby, Greek Gods&lt;/b&gt; or &lt;b&gt;Brown Cow&lt;/b&gt;.  All those yogurts contain the same live cultures which help with digestion, but Activia just has a great marketing plan! &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;All in all, your best bet is to purchase a low fat, plain flavor brand such as &lt;b&gt;Greek Gods&lt;/b&gt;, or &lt;b&gt;Wallaby&lt;/b&gt;. They have all natural ingredients, all the live bacterial cultures to promote digestion and health, no fat, and low amounts of milk sugars and a nice tasting creamy flavor. The beauty about purchasing plain yogurt is you can add your own natural flavoring. Flavor it with a tsp. honey or all natural maple syrup. I can't give her Disney Land, but I gave her what was in her mind, the equivalent... It has been another testiment of how our bodies are truely attached to our souls.&amp;nbsp; Watching her skinny, frail body, and the effort to eat only a few spoonfuls of food each day is heart renching, but then she will open her eyes and there is a soul staring at you.&amp;nbsp; Kind words and smile will get her to open her mouth for one more bite of food.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;The body is nothing without the soul.&amp;nbsp; The soul and spirit is what makes you hold on during the toughest of times.&amp;nbsp; Whether it is an old Grandma or a premie infant, they both have such frail bodies, but can accomplish the unthinkable through their unquenchable spirits.&amp;nbsp; This may be my last weekend with my Grandma here on earth, but I know her spirit will live on...I am reminded of it each time she opens her eyes.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; &lt;br /&gt;May we all give back to our bodies and souls.&amp;nbsp; May we all do something good today to nourish and feed both.&amp;nbsp; &lt;br /&gt;Today is a gift..our bodies, whether they have that extra roll around the middle, or a cripple in the hip..they are ours.&amp;nbsp; We can do something to make sure we are saying 'thank you' for this body by taking a walk with our legs outside, using our hands to wipe the tears of another, or sit down and stretch.&amp;nbsp; And by taking care of our precious bodies we in turn are taking care of our souls.&amp;nbsp; The beach is covered with starfish and in the afternoon most of the starfish will die from overexposue to the heat of the sun. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;A man well aquainted with the ocean and how the world works takes note of this ambitious little girl. With well intentions he says to her, "It is okay you don't have to pick up them all. Yes, some will die, but this is the way nature works and It doesn't really matter there are still plenty of starfish in the ocean." He smiles to let the little girl know everything will be okay. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The little girl pauses a moment, slowly picks up a starfish and looks the man straight in the eye. "Doesn't really matter, huh?" The man nods at her affirminly. The girl looks back down at the pink starfish in her hand and then back up at the man. "Hmm..." she says to herself. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;She takes a deep breath and slowly looks back down at the little pink starfish. She hold him up close to her face "Well," she whispers, "that man thinks it doesn't really matter. What do you think?" So when it comes to an exercise plan, it is so important to find time at least 3-4 times a week&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;When you know you are going to have a busy day (traveling, visitors, or back to back appointments) you can "blast" your workout into 10 minutes.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Working out 5 times a week for 10 min. is more beneficial than working out 1 time for an hour. Consistency counts!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;When we absolutely can't get in 30 min. of cardio, we know we can at least get in 10 minutes and not fall off the wagon of good intentions.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;On those really busy days, just get up 10 min. earlier. I promise it won't make you more tired. It will actually give you more physical and mental energy and you will accomplish more during the day.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:130%;"&gt;The Body Blast Workout:&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Pick two muscle groups that you feel need a little extra attention. For example : glutes/abdominals, back/chest, or legs/arms&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;1. Start with blasting your heart rate and metabolism by doing 2 min. of high powered jumps. Ex. Jumping Jack, Lunges, Blurpies&lt;br /&gt;2. Do one set of Abdominals and one set of glutes (make it burn!).&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;3. 2 more minutes of high powered cardio.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;4. Second set of abdominals and glutes.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;5. Body Heart Mind Soul .com&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;THE 3 SECRETS TO INCREDIBLE ABS&lt;br /&gt;Danette Allen&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Being in the fitness industry for the past ten years, I am constantly asked two questions, “How do I tone up my abdominals and get the six pack I have always dreamed of? Is it possible to achieve a toned mid section after having children?” Absolutely yes! You can achieve incredible abs (even after having children)! There are three key things to keep in mind to achieve those incredible abdominals you have always wanted:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;It is not true that you receive great abs by doing a lot of crunches. Doing a lot of crunches will strengthen your muscles, but by not cutting down on body fat, you are only strengthening everything under your fat layer. You have to lose body fat to see the muscles underneath. Doing cardiovascular, fat burning exercise will help you see the muscles you have.&lt;br /&gt;Nutrition plays a huge role in the appearance of your abdominals. You have to eat a balanced diet and avoid or cut back on simple carbs and high fat products.&lt;br /&gt;Doing the right abdominal exercise with the right form is essential to help you achieve the abs of your dreams. Remember that quality is better than quantity.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Here are two specific exercises I would suggest to achieve incredible abs, 1) the plank 2) the ball. Both exercises will help you focus on your core muscles, which are the underlining muscles that hold and pull your body together. By strengthening your core you will shape your abdominals flat.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The plank is one of the simplest ways to increase core strength. Find a flat surface, place your elbows and your toes down. Make sure your body is in a flat bridge. Hold the position for 15 to 30 seconds. Keep your glutes from going above or below your hips. Stay flat!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Ball exercises can help as well. Most people do these wrong and wonder why they are not seeing results. Place your lower back on the ball. Knees should be at a 90 degree angle. During the motion of the lifting and lowering of your body, the ball should remain stationary. Do not lower your body beyond the same height as your hips.
